We often experience the wish for a second (or sometimes even third) opinion on a medical question. We are happy to provide this. Our basic attitude is rather restraint when it comes to surgical procedures, i.e. we only recommend surgery if we are convinced that this is the best way for the child. You are also free to seek a second opinion after our initial assessment regarding further treatment or specific questions.
We would like to have a transparent approach in both cases. This also saves your child from unnecessary double examinations. In many areas of medicine, there are different opinions and experiences that shape actions and recommendations. Often, there is no "completely wrong" or "always right". Therefore, it is helpful to know what statements you have received so far, in order to advise you comprehensively and explain our opinion on a question. Of course, you will receive our report and the findings we have made, so that you can discuss them with colleagues. It is also perfectly fine with us if you say that you only want our opinion on a question, but ultimately want to have the operation performed by the treating colleague. A transparent approach usually makes the situation more pleasant and uncomplicated for both parties.
