What is quality in medical care? One can certainly philosophize about this question for a long time. Quality measurement requires measurable quantities, and this is difficult in the field of medical care, in my experience. Classically, one distinguishes between structural quality, process quality, and outcome quality. We set high standards for our structures and processes, as well as their further development, in order to achieve a high outcome quality.
Alongside the spatial and material equipment, the personnel composition plays an essential role from a structural perspective. We have invested a lot of thought, work, and investment in the spatial and material equipment to achieve optimal conditions and to be able to care for our patients optimally—including cooperation with the St. Joseph's Hospital for use of the operating room and the radiological practice of Prof. Uhlenbrock. Personnel-wise, we consider a high level of education with a comprehensive orientation to be important. Thoughtful action, critical questioning of circumstances, and openness to innovation are thus key elements. This means, alongside a solid basic qualification with as many stations in the life course as possible, the willingness to further and continue education. Social competence—the so-called soft factors—play an even greater role in dealing with children and adolescents. A corresponding attitude is the basic requirement for working in our practice.
Process flows must be designed in such a way that the outcome quality and satisfaction of our patients are taken into account. They are subject to continuous further development and improvement. If you notice any unfavorable processes or circumstances, we would be very grateful for corresponding feedback.
We collect feedback on complications and actively follow up on operations. Regularly, we conduct sample surveys after the completion of treatment to assess satisfaction regarding care, including consultation and treatment.
We document our structures and processes in our quality manual in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2015 and live it actively. This includes regular internal and external audits.
